These water based products are easy to use and work on any surface!
Simply brush on the metallic finishes--iron or copper--over plastic, wood, metal, cardstock, really anything you're modeling with. While still wet, add a coating of the liquid instant rust (on the iron) or the patina green or blue (on the copper) for a varied and random weathered look. You vary the effect based on your individual tastes.
